What It’s Like to Join a 5-Day Jin Shin Jyutsu Seminar
Share
There’s a unique energy that emerges when people come together to explore the Art of Jin Shin Jyutsu—open-hearted, curious, and ready to deepen their understanding. Our recent 5-day seminar with Kelly Mount was no exception.
What began as a classroom setting quickly transformed into something much more: a shared field of insight, connection, and presence. Each day was layered with meaning—some parts were grounding, some expansive, others quietly transformative. Through treatments, discussion, and reflection, we witnessed not only how this work supports others, but how it profoundly shifts something within ourselves.
Our instructor Kelly Mount brings such a depth of knowledge, but also a beautiful humility—allowing space for everyone to meet the material in their own way. Whether you’ve been practising for years or are newly drawn to this work, the 5-day format offers a rich immersion that continues to unfold long after the final day.
This seminar was also extra special as we took time to honour and celebrate Julie Wells—whose devotion to Jin Shin Jyutsu has helped keep its presence and community alive here in Aotearoa. Her care, commitment, and love for this Art have made it possible for so many of us to discover, study, and share Jin Shin Jyutsu in our own lives. Julie, from the bottom of our hearts—thank you. We are beyond grateful for everything you’ve done and continue to offer.
One of the reflections that stayed with many of us came from Mary Burmeister, who once said:
“In Jin Shin Jyutsu, there are no teachers or masters. They are all the same. Be the example. We don’t have to preach to other people. When people see me and say, ‘You’re so calm and relaxed. How do you do it—are you on pills or something?’ Then I can tell them about the hands... The jumper cables are the light. I’ve been studying for 30 years, and I know nothing.”
This sums up the essence of the seminar: trust where you are, keep practising, keep sharing. The more we experience this Art for ourselves, the more we naturally offer it to others—through our presence, our hands, and our way of being.

Thank you again to everyone who took part in this recent seminar. It’s the shared presence, trust, and openness of each participant that makes these gatherings so deeply impactful.
Until next time,
Keep jumper cabling, keep flowing, and keep trusting.
